Indian Bitcoin Community Flags Off Bitcoin Lightning Torch
Recently, we reported that Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, had joined the Lightning Torch network by sending 2860000 sats upon the request of entrepreneur and bitcoin community member, Matt Odell.As previously explained, the ‘Lightning Torch’ is based off upon the concept of the famed Olympic Torch where users of the lightning network send transactions and to communicate use the hashtag #LNtrustchain. Each user receives the transaction, adds a nominal amount of 10,000 satoshis (about $0.34) and passes it to someone else.Taking a cue from the tremendous success, IndiaBits, an Indian bitcoin community group also kickstarted a similar campaign on Twitter, recently.⚡️ LN fun comes to India?? . The last recipient will be donating it to a non profit through PocketBits #LightningIndia.” Stating the reason behind starting the torch, the group on its website said, “To spread awareness among Indian Crypto Community, we decided to start Lightning India.”The Lightning Torch created some confusion among community members when the group thanked and credited Twitter user, hodlonaut for creating the campaign. Following which, the latter said, “I have nothing to do with this, and I don’t think they should use #LNTrustChain hashtag. Seems almost like intentional effort to create confusion when looking at the image header. ?”IndiaBits quickly clarified and said, “Our intention has not been to create chaos or confusion, we are inspired by your initiative. Our official hashtag is #LightningIndia and the #LNTrustChain tag was only used in a single tweet to thank you for the initiative. Apologies for any misunderstanding. #Hodl.” Acknowledging that, hodlonaut said, “Cool! I just looked at the image in the tweet.
